Environmental Editing: What Is It And Why You Should Consider It.
When you’re writing a book, it’s important to make sure that your work is as perfect as possible. There are many different aspects of editing that you can consider, but one of the most common and important is environmental editing. This type of editing involves looking at the overall tone of your book and making sure that it fits into its genre or setting. If this sounds complicated—or even impossible—then don’t worry! In this post, I’ll explain what environmental editing is and why it should be part of your process when crafting any piece of writing content (including blog posts).
What is environmental editing?
Environmental editing is the process of looking at a manuscript as a whole. It’s important to look at the whole story, not just the words or sentences. As well, it’s important to look at the author’s voice and style in order to make sure they’re consistent with each other throughout their work.
Why is it used?
Environmental editing is a process used to make an author’s book more readable and appealing to a wider audience. It can also be used to make it accessible to people with disabilities or visual impairments.
The first reason why you should consider using environmental editing is that it makes your books more accessible to readers who might not otherwise be able to read them at all. For example, if your book has pictures in it but no text on every page (or very few), then this could make it difficult for someone with dyslexia or other reading difficulties because they would have trouble figuring out where the next piece of text begins after looking at one page of text at once.
Who does it and why?
Editing is an art and a science, with many different types of editors to choose from. The first type of editor you can hire is someone who specializes in environmental editing. They’ll understand the importance of being thorough when working with your content, but they might not have a background in science or research. You also have other options:
- Someone who has worked on similar topics before (e.g., how do you know if they’re an expert?).
- Someone who has studied environmental issues more broadly (e.g., did they study biology?). If this person has experience working on books that address the same topic as yours, then their work will likely be more thorough than those without such experience would be able to produce
How to find the right editor for your book.
- Look for someone who has experience editing books in your genre.
- Ask questions and get references.
- Check out their website, social media accounts, and other places where they’ve been mentioned online–the more you know about them, the better equipped you’ll be when it comes time to make a decision about who should edit your manuscript!
- Make sure the editor is passionate about their work–if an editor isn’t excited about what they do for a living then there might be some problems down the road with your manuscript if something goes wrong during editing (and if nothing goes wrong then that’s great too). Take note of whether any positive comments were made by previous clients on Amazon or elsewhere online before hiring someone new so that those experiences can influence how much confidence we have going into negotiations with potential editors who may not yet have had direct experience working with authors like ourselves.”
We’re going to talk about editors and how you can find the best one for your book. But first, you need to know what environmental editing is. The term refers
to any type of editorial work that helps an author make sure their work has been edited properly and is ready for publication.
